Some good news for a change

Hello everyone – a whole bundle of good news today.

In no particular order – I’ve just had my first vaccination. I wandered in, loaded down with potential reading matter, several notebooks and pens, some biscuits and an expectation of being in there for hours.

Well, that didn’t happen. I was straight in, clothes on the floor – you know what I mean – stabbed in the arm, into the waiting room for a bit of a really not needed sit-down and then released back into the wild.

Everyone was bright and cheerful – even me – and really well organised. I was so impressed. And then a lovely walk home along the canal in the wintry sunshine. And sausages for lunch to look forward to.

More good news – I’ve signed another a contract with Headline. The usual stuff. I offer them my soul and they publish another three of my books. We have:

Untitled St Mary’s 13 – published June 2022

Untitled Time Police 4 – published April 2023

Untitled Elizabeth Cage 4 – published April 2024

Together with the traditional Christmas stories, of course, and anything else I might feel like scribbling in the meantime.

The third bit of good news – for me that is – is the arrival of my sales figures up to the end of December. I don’t normally mention them but they are so utterly brilliant I felt I just had to say a huge thank you to everyone who has ever bought one of my books. Thank you so much. For an author there is no greater pleasure than curling up on the sofa, tea and chocolate within easy reach, and gloating over her sales figures. And just so we’re all clear – there was gloating. Massive gloating. World class epic gloating. And quite a lot of chocolate as well.

So thank you everyone for enabling my chocolate habit.

That’s it for today – I hope everyone gets their vaccinations soon and it all goes as smoothly as mine. And the weather will get warmer. And Another Time Another Place is out this coming April. In fact, I’m using the proofs for a footrest as I type – don’t tell Headline.

Happy Thursday everyone – and now I should get back to work. On the other hand – sausages for lunch!

I listen to the fabulous, wonderful, disasterous St Mary’s thundering around the timeline, courtesy of Audible’s audiobooks read by the ab fab Zara Ramm, but my daughter in law is a committed paper bookie. So, I bought her the boxed set for Crimble and, just this morning, the signed copy of The Long And Short Of It hit the mat, perfectly in time for Mother’s Day (she’s also the Mum of my two adorable grandkids.)
So, Jodi, you have another set of devoted groupies here in Lincolnshire – I also do the Time Police series, Elizabeth Cage and pretty much everything else you write – who are ever so glad there’s a new contract for you and more goodies on the way for us.
Gloat away over the sales figures (I suspect a sizeable portion of it used to live cosybut unfulfilled in my bank account) , enjoy the chocolate, accept our grateful thanks and forever continue scribbling! 😃

Ah, double congratulations! both on the new contract and the sales figures! I’ve read all the books to date with the exception of the 2nd Time Police novel (its up next) AND I have persuaded my husband to get the St. Mary’s chronicles as audiobooks for our pre bed listening. Can’t wait to start them all over again and get to share them.

Congrats on your new contract. I love your books. I’ve read them all twice and will no doubt read them all again at some point. I’m really looking forward to the April release. I never hesitate to recommend your books and I’m always thanked for it. :)

Like yourself, I have been a long Terry Pratchet fan, and really mourned the loss of him, and also my regular excitement of buying his latest release. Then I found The St Mary’s series, and was hooked! Must admit. I originally bought them on Kindle, but my son bought me the boxed st for Christmas, and I have loved re-reading them in the traditional book format, even if i still have to get the later short stories on kindle. The physical books are now adorning my groaning bookshelves alongside all my other favourite authors. Can’t wait for the next release in April.

Just love your books. They have inspired me in my own writing. I was fretting about a bit of technical writing I had to do as I’m not an expert. But relaxed after reading your comment about “making it all up”. Which means I can too. Yiur books are a cozy place to go to. Except when you are killing off main characters. As a writer that’s quite scary.
